Assistant Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience
Ben Deen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Tulane University, and Faculty Associate of the Tulane Brain Institute. Dr. Deen received his B.S. in Physics and Cognitive Science from Yale University (2009), and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from MIT (2015). He then conducted postdoctoral research in the Laboratory of Neural Systems at the Rockefeller University. Dr. Deen is a social cognitive neuroscientist interested in how specialized systems in the mind and brain enable us to understand other people and their actions. He has been working with functional magnetic resonance imaging since his undergraduate years, and is an expert in neuroimaging data acquisition and preprocessing methods. His research has developed optimized methods for studying functional organization in individual human brains, and methods for scanning awake infants.
